Many of you have been asking about our plans for winter/spring semester. So much still up in the air and changing daily. We must continue to move with caution and the awareness that our plans could change at any moment depending on new regulations and guidelines from the city and DOH.
We also must consider the harsh reality of winter, which is just around the corner. Practicing yoga in snow is not really ideal. 🙂
So, in trying to maneuver all of that and still keeping the health and safety of your kids and our staff in mind, we will be offering a hybrid semester that we hope will keep the kids engaged, give us a bit of time around the cold months, and allow us to return to outdoor classes once we are ready.
Our semester will begin the week of January 18th until week of June 7th.
Our Changemakers and Yoga classes will go virtual until Mid-March, when we will decide, depending on weather trends, when might be a good time to transition again to outdoor classes.
Our Urban Naturalist classes will continue IN-PERSON, weather permitting as long as there are no other DOH restrictions we need to adhere to.
What will that look like?
For Urban Naturalist — We will monitor the weather each week and make a decision the day before if we will have the class in person or if we will have to move it online for that week. We will continue to use inspiration from the outdoor schooling movement and will be out there rain or shine, cold or snow. The only reason we would move the class online would be if there are unsafe conditions or weather patterns like extreme cold, blizzards, wind or ice storms. We ask that you dress your kids for the weather. We will be out for an hour of exploring in the park each week. If classes go online we will send you a link to zoom where Rachael will be guiding science activities and exploring nature with a digital microscope.
Last year, we had a mild winter with only a handful of super cold days. We shall see what this winter brings. But we are committed to our naturalists and feel it is important for the kids to have opportunities to be outside.
Registration will begin the first week of December. Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
Thank you so much for your continued support and for giving us the the pleasure of working with your kids each week.
