AfterSchool Fall 2020: A Letter from Our Founder

Posted August 21, 2020

Dear Families,

What a time it’s been!

We are excited to share news about our kids programming for the fall and look forward to seeing you in-person, socially distanced soon.

We are here to support our families as best we can during these challenging times and planned our programs for this semester based on the feedback we got from you through the parents survey we sent earlier this month. We thank you for sharing your thoughts, wishes and concerns with us.

We are listening… some of you told us you are not quite comfortable with in-person classes yet and others feel they need the kids to be out and have opportunities to be social.  We made sure to include both ONLINE and in-person/OUTDOORS/socially-distant classes so you can choose what works for your family.

As a fellow parent, I want you to have all the information you need to feel good about choosing the right after-school class for your kids this fall. I invite you to join me on a Virtual Open House on Thursday, Aug 27th at 6pm, where we can go over our plans, answer your questions and address your concerns as best we can. Please RSVP to this free event and you will receive a link to zoom 20 minutes before the meeting start time.

As you may know, our good friends at Scribble Art Workshop made the difficult decision to close their studio in Inwood due to the challenges created by the Coronavirus crisis. Scribble was born in B&Y’s original space at 207th St more than 10 years ago and I feel deeply blessed to have had Sasha as our kids programming partner this whole time. We will miss our Scribble friends dearly and wish them the very best as we all try to navigate the months ahead. You can find Scribble’s Online programming HERE

I also would love to introduce you to Ashley Beam who is working closely with me this year on our after-school. Ashley has tons of experience creating mindful programming that is child-led, experiential and full of joy. We are super excited to have Ashley as part of our team. You can read more about Ashley on the AfterSchool page and welcome her at the virtual open house at the end of the month.

I’m here for you. Reach out to me anytime — director@breadandyoga.com.

Thank you as always for your support and I look forward to working with you in creating a safe, supportive and fun experience for your kids this fall.

Warm regards,

Marcela Xavier

B&Y Founder and Program Director
